Three Point Shootout finds new life
The three-point shootout competition normally draws a select group of students with the talents to shoot, under pressure, and come up big. This year saw that expanded with a large group of men participating and a larger than normal ladies group. When all the shots were taken and points tallied, Alyse Ray and Eddie Rivera were left standing as champions. Alyse was on the championship powder puff team, while Eddie just came off a soccer championship two weeks ago. Both are consistent participants in Intramurals and took their skills to Randy Lamber Court on Wednesday night to compete against Moriah Gross and Jimbo Paul from Carson Newman. Each year the Intramurals champions from both schools compete at halftime of the rivalry game to see who can come out on top. It was a split decision again this year with Alyse bringing the championship back to Maryville, while Jimbo won by one basket to steal the title from Eddie. Intramurals now takes a break during finals and the holidays. We'll see you all in J-Term!
Dodgeball Tournament Draws Crowd, New Champions
The mini-Dodgeball tournament held before Thanksgiving break garnered quite the participation from both the men's and women's teams this year. Over 20 teams signed on to play and earn those highly coveted champions t-shirts. Derek Hunt's team took home the championship on the men's side while Ashley Sullivan's team dominated the pack yet again in the ladies pool. The smaller tournament-style offering was added at the urging of spring sports athletes so they can take advantage of competing against all of the fall sport athletes who just completed their seasons. This also afforded all non-athletes a chance to warm up to the larger Dodgeball season which is held in February.

Muddogs, Crouching Tiger Hidden Football vie for championship
The Muddogs, lead by MVP Cody Larriviere, went touchdown for touchdown with Crouching Tiger Hidden Football on Tuesday evening as the sun dipped behind the trees on Lloyd Beach. As the second half began, the Muddogs and quarterback Chaz Elrod pulled away from Logan Brady's team to end up the champions of flag football. With the win, the Muddogs went 7 and 0 in flag football, marking the second consecutive year that the champions have gone undefeated. Ricky Powell and Cody Wilson are the only two left from last year's championship team who were vital to the Muddogs win against Crouching Tiger. Logan Brady, captain of Crouching Tiger Hidden Football, received special recognition for his contribution to the good sportsmanship his team exhibited throughout the season and tournament.

Although the temperature may be dropping, flag football is just heating up. After taking last week off for Homecoming festivities, and to give the ladies a chance to get in on the flag football action, the guys are back at it this week. Two teams are left undefeated at this point, with only two days left in the regular season. Tournament seeds will be announced on Tuesday morning for games that begin Tuesday evening. Be sure to check back for updates on whose in and whose out of the tournament!

A Soggy Mess of Sand
The weather decided it wasn't going to cooperate this week in the forecast. However, the skies seemed to have different plans, as the clouds parted and the rain stopped just in time for volleyball games this week. Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday saw teams competing on a wet, sandy court, bringing back memories of the summer for many students. It also proved that the Cash Money Defending Champion Millionaires cannot be beat, regardless of conditions. Several other teams have been surprising in their victories this week. Only one other team remains unbeaten, Practice Safe Sets, but they do have a draw on their record with the Jackhammers. The season concludes next week, with hopefully better weather as Fall makes it's entrance on Tuesday. Forfeited games will also make an attempt at being made up on Wednesday, September 23 in order to give all the teams a chance to make the eight team tournament. Tournament teams will announced on Thursday if all games are in by that point. However if inclement weather pushes games back, the tournament seeds will be announced on Friday afternoon. Remember, this is a single elimination tournament. So go big, or go home!

Week Two of Sand Volleyball
Sand volleyball is heading into week two of competition. So far, the Ca$h Money Defending Champion Millionaire$ are proving they are the team to beat again this year. However, the Spiking Samurais are the new team on the block with tons of energy and a great attitude. This week has three nights of play scheduled, and we're hoping that the weather behaves and allows all the games to get in. Come down to Lloyd Beach and cheer on the teams as they vie to get a berth in the tournament in two weeks!

March Madness Tournament continues
March Madness has fully taken over Cooper Athletic Center this week! Mandi Smith's team won the Women's Division by a margin of one point on Tuesday evening against The Under G's.
Teams competed with intensity to make it into the field of six for the tournament. Wednesday night saw Ramrod's first place strong-hold be snatched away by America's Most Wanted, and their 43 point defeat of Joe Alexander's team. Both Ramrod and America's Most Wanted earned first round byes in the tournament. That left four teams playing on Thursday evening for a chance to advance. Long Range Bombers and Tim Conner's team went back and forth for 25 minutes of play. The Long Range Bombers pulled ahead with 3 minutes in the game to take the lead, mainly off the hot shooting of Denny Zimmerman. The second game of the night was also a close one between the Floyd HallStars and the Uptowners. With a minute and a half remaining, the quick thinking of Floyd team captain Chaz Elrod and his consistency from behind the arc put his team ahead and into the second round of the tournament.
Games will resume on Tuesday evening in Cooper with America's Most Wanted playing the Long Range Bombers at 7pm. Ramrod will hope to defend their 2008 championship title against the Floyd HallStars at 8pm. Wednesday evening at 8pm come cheer on the final two teams standing, as Intramurals takes over Randy Lamber Court in Cooper. You won't want to miss it!

Dodgeball Season Concludes, Tournament Set
Tonight will see the end of the Dodgeball season. Several teams are on the cusp of a tournament berth, while one team saw their tourney hopes dashed on Tuesday evening. Matt Warner and his MC International Student team went winless again this season to fall into last place. Pure Athleticism could meet the same fate tonight if they cannot pull out a win over Tim Conner's Bone Crushers.
The Women's Division concludes tonight as well, with the Championship game being played at the conclusion of tonight's Men's games at 8:30. The Dodgeballerz look to defeat Team Total Domination in a best two out of three match to take home the championship and bragging rights. Video of an exhibition game between Team Total Domination and the MC International Students, with some help from referees Lee & Ryan

In the final game of the evening, the Playground Legends had earned their place in the championship thanks to a decided win over Tim Connor's Big Sticks earlier that night. Brew Crew fought hard and won their second consecutive Wiffleball championship thanks to the consistent bats of Bryan Randall, Gary Hughes, Josh Ingram, Dustin Locke, Michael Bosco, and Calvin Rutgerson.

Dodgeball Returns!
Following a very competitive Fall slate of Intramurals events, the Spring semester kicks off with the return of an MC favorite, Dodgeball! Dodgeball will run during two full weeks of February on Tuesday and Thursday nights in the gym. You can sign up a team between now and January 29th at 2pm in Bartlett 223. There will be two divisions again, for Men and for Women. If you don't have a team but want to play, come by and get yourself on the Free Agents listing. We'll place you with a team needing players.
Remember, 6 play at a time, so you'll need between 6 and 8 on your team in case players can't make it. This is always a great time, even to watch!
Wiffleball in full swing
Wiffleball is in full swing during J-Term. This year has seen the emergence of two divisions, a Men's and a Women's/Co-Ed. This has allowed for better competition leading up to the championship games to be held on Thursday evening in Cooper gym 3.
