Softball Season Continues On

The weather has provided for a great backdrop the last two weeks, as softball is once again digging in at Springbrook park. There has also been quite the matchups, with Tim Conner's Big Sticks defeating the Coaches team last evening in a frenzied, back and forth hitting game. Several teams finally got on the board with runs this week as well, as the stiffness of winter has finally been shed. The biggest surprises have been on the ladies side of the schedule with five teams competing this year, and proving that seniority doesn't always prove to be what wins games. Two teams full of soccer ladies have shown they can compete and come from behind to win games. Twice this week, that has been the case. Regular season games wrap up next week and playoff races tighten to see who makes the very selective field this year.

March Madness Wrap-Up

The men's championship game between Chris Carney's team and Tim Conner's team proved to be a close one. The rematch from a quarterfinal matchup took until the last few minutes to decide. Conner's team was overmatched though with the storied experience of Carney's team which included Asst. Basketball coach Kendal Wallace, former varsity players Tyler Fosnes and Carney, as well as ex-JV star Donald Rucker.

The Women's game was decided between teams who had not played in over two weeks due to forfeitures by their opponents. The Soccer Girls proved that their athleticism on the pitch was just as effective on the hard court. Jess Petersen led the team to their second consecutive championship in Intramural basketball.

Dodgeball concludes with two champions

February has drawn to a close, thus finding Intramurals bidding adieu to Dodgeball. Mandi Smith's Dodgeballerz took home the championship in the women's division with a decisive victory over Lauren Miller's Ball Busters. Tim Conner's team, the Step-Dad's, took home the championship on top of their undefeated season in Dodgeball. When asked why he chose that name, Conner informed us that "It's because we beat you and you hate us."

March Madness basketball has started and will continue throughout the month, with eight men's teams and four women's teams competing this year.
