Cornhole continues

The Cornhole tournament continues this evening, as Intramurals looks to crown it's second set of champions in as many weeks. The weather may have cooled off but the boards are heating up with the final games being played this evening on the Fayerweather Lawn. The final teams to compete are Ethan Staley and Myles Cordell, who are looking to get in their first games of the tournament as their wins have come from forfeits. Cory Kopec and Chasity Smith continue to dominate throughout and take on John Benson and Justin Kirkland in the first game this evening. Mandi Smith and Dixie Baum are the wildcards in the tournament with only one game under their belt but have a distinct advantage given their cornhole skills.

New Sand Volleyball Champions

The sun had dipped just behind Lloyd Hall on Tuesday evening as Practice Safe Sets took to the court against Sandstorm, the defending champions. Behind the strong net skills of Myles Cordell and empowered by team cheerleader and captain Elizabeth Dunn, Practice Safe Sets took over as sand volleyball champions. The Maryville College Intramurals staff congratulates both teams on a hard fought game that saw great serves, spikes, and kills, with digs only seen in the Olympics.

Defending Champs Return to Sand Volleyball

Sandstorm has returned in a flurry of wind and sand to Co-Ed Sand Volleyball, only with a slightly different look. Donald Rucker still leads the defending champions, however, the talents of AJ Cragar, Nick Iott, and Travis Folsom will not be present this time around.

A total of 11 teams signed up for this years season, which serves it's way onto the scene Tuesday, September 7 at 5:30. Games will last until Thursday, September 23. The field will be cut drastically for the playoffs the following week. Come out to LLoyd Beach and enjoy the action, as friends will become competitors and relationships are put on the line for the exclusive right to sport the first Intramural Champions t-shirts of 2010-2011.

I-Night during Orientation

Wondering what there is to do during Orientation week as a new student? Thursday night come over to Cooper (where it's air-conditioned) and check out what Intramurals has to offer this year! We'll have cornhole, volleyball, and basketball games going on from 7-9pm. You can come meet the Intramurals staff and find out how you can get involved with us this year! We look forward to meeting you all on Thursday, August 19 in Cooper Athletic Center.

Donald Rucker took home the I-Cup Championship Trophy in May! Congrats to Donald and good luck to you all competing this year!

Softball Season Continues On

The weather has provided for a great backdrop the last two weeks, as softball is once again digging in at Springbrook park. There has also been quite the matchups, with Tim Conner's Big Sticks defeating the Coaches team last evening in a frenzied, back and forth hitting game. Several teams finally got on the board with runs this week as well, as the stiffness of winter has finally been shed. The biggest surprises have been on the ladies side of the schedule with five teams competing this year, and proving that seniority doesn't always prove to be what wins games. Two teams full of soccer ladies have shown they can compete and come from behind to win games. Twice this week, that has been the case. Regular season games wrap up next week and playoff races tighten to see who makes the very selective field this year.
